The war hammer was developed in the late medieval period to counter the ever improving armours of the age. It had a hammer head and a spike, often made specially to penetrate armour and as such it became a popular weapon with knights fighting other knights or famously with the English yeomen fighting the exquisitely armoured nobility of France. Epic Armoury's Warhammer is made in imitation, but the hammerhead is slightly larger and the spike somewhat smaller. That makes the weapon safer to use, and adds feeling of fantasy. The hammer face is octagonal, 7 cm long from the haft and 10 cm diameter. The hammer comes with a 10 cm claw-like spiked-peen. The hammer has a uneven dark wood-textured haft and a 20 cm long handle wrapped in brown split leather.
